We’re pleased to have Erika Wennerstrom of Heartless Bastards in the studio this week working on music for an up coming film called Winter in the Blood. We actually ended up having all of the Bastards in because Erika brought them in to play on one of the songs. Turns out they’re not bastards at all. They’re super nice folks, and amazing musicians. Later this week she’ll be bringing in Ben Kweller and a whole host of other guest musicians to finish up one of the tracks as well. These tunes are sounding great and we’re super stoked to be a part of this project!

Life Apart

The Fox Derby’s forthcoming album, Life Apart, is finally finished! The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Reggie O’Farrell. Some tracking was done at various studios in Houston and some here at The Womb. Life Apart is a huge sounding album and we’re proud to have been a part of the process. Look for it to be released early next year!

Minidoc Single Sessions – White Rhino

The Womb is teaming up local cinematographer James Parker to bring Austin a new monthly multimedia injection. We’ll be picking one band a month to come into the studio to record a single for free in one day. James will be on site to document the process and get some interview footage as well. The result will be a 5 to 10 minute music video/mini-documentary about the recording process and the band in general accompanied by a free download of the finished song. If all goes well we may even eventually start doing limited pressings of the songs on 7″ vinyl as well. The video’s and MP3′s will be released via Austin’s fine network of music blogs. Our first guest artist is going to be Austin’s own White Rhino. Why would we do all of this for free? Frankly, because we think that it will be extremely beneficial to everyone involved and it’s just a cool idea. Stay tuned for a release date and more info…

Thanks for visiting thewombrecording.com. The Womb is a recording studio in Austin, TX, owned and operated by producer Reggie O’Farrell. We officially opened on January 15th, 2011. The studio features Pro Tools HD and Logic Pro, boutique outboard gear, experienced engineers and musicians, and great sounding rooms at very competitive prices. If you live outside of Austin and would like to spend some time recording at The Womb, we have sleeping acomodations for up to 8 people with a private bathroom and washer/dryer in the space above the studio. We offer this to out of town clients at no additional cost. We aim to make great records with good people. Give us a call and come check out the space.
